Do You Get Things Done?

Mike Birt • October 6, 2025

Having a great plan means nothing if you never act on it. Execution is where growth actually happens.

Every business owner loves to talk about strategy. It’s easy to get caught up in planning meetings, brainstorming sessions, and long conversations about what should happen next.

Maybe you’ve even hired a consultant to build you a slick PowerPoint deck full of charts, market insights, and buzzwords that sound impressive.

And then what happens?

That fancy deck ends up sitting on your desk collecting dust, or worse, buried in your inbox under a pile of unread emails.

Those young MBA’s really know how to use PowerPoint. The presentations look amazing. The ideas sound good. But nothing in that plan ever actually gets executed.

The Hard Part is Doing the Work

Getting stuff done is hard. It’s not glamorous. It’s not exciting. It’s the unpolished, unending grind of creating, testing, revising, and repeating.

Maybe AI can help with some of it. Maybe. But here’s the catch: whatever AI can do for you, it can do for everyone else too. And when everyone’s using the same easy tools, everyone ends up looking the same.

If it’s easy, everyone can do it, and that means it won’t set you apart.

The hard thing is being real, showing up, creating genuine content, and putting your actual business in front of real people. That’s what makes your brand stand out. And that’s why most don’t do it, because it’s hard.

The Truth About Strategy

You can have the world’s most impressive strategy. You can have a brilliant plan, full of flowcharts, frameworks, and color-coded priorities. But if you don’t execute, none of it matters.

Execution is the difference between potential and progress.

You don’t need the world’s most perfect plan. You just need to start. Don’t let “perfect” become the excuse that stops you from moving forward.

Getting something done today, even if it’s not flawless, is better than another week of talking about what could be.

Where Strategy Should Actually Lead

Yes, you need a strategy. Every business does. It’s the foundation. But it’s not the finish line. Strategy is the map, execution is the journey.

Make sure your plan doesn’t stop at “the plan.”

Start moving. Start doing. Start creating.

Because the only thing worse than having no strategy is having a great one you never act on.
